Mom & I Take the Breakers
This post comes to you from the Vanderbilt mansion in Newport, Rhode Island known as The Breakers. I would love to say this post is coming from Newport itself because I was able to explore the town, but traveling with a child comes with asterisks that basically read **child may change any given plans at any given time with zero to no notice.**
I had intentions of exploring several different mansions and having lunch in the area, but my child is a giant (his father is 6'7 - he is 8 months old and over half my height - and he wears 24 month clothing) so his tolerance time for hanging out in the Ergo is about 10 minutes. Being in the Ergo wandering around old homes was not his cup of formula, apparently. After the 10 peaceful minutes, I ended up just carrying him quickly through the rest of the home so as not to bother others who were roaming about. The home was incredible; not to be cliche but talk about #goals.
Afterward we took a walk along the Cliff Walk and watched a few surfers for a while. I was terrified on their behalf because of all the rocks, but they were unfazed. Weirdos.
We ended up having lunch in Providence at the Providence Place Mall. That place is INCREDIBLE. I love everything I was able to see in Rhode Island, even if things did go differently than I had intended. With kids, sometimes you have to roll with the punches.
