Mom & I Take the Freedom Trail
A long time ago when I was being trained for a new job, we were given a project where we were told to choose a song that perfectly described/reflected who we were as individuals. The song I put along with our video this week (posted directly under the photos at the end of this post!) is the song I chose way back then. It's still just as meaningful to me now as it was back then! It perfectly describes what I am working on in life right now. I have always been a proponent of meaningful lyrics in music, more so than a hoppin' beat (which is the exact opposite of my husband, go figure).
The song is called Soul Meets Body. To me, it's basically describing getting to a place in life where who you are deep down in your soul is the person you have become. Your purest happiness and joy is reflected in your everyday life. So often we are going through the motions of day to day life and daydreaming of a future where we can travel more, see family, paint more, run more, adventure more, sleep more, Netflix more... whatever our hearts desire seems to be in the far off thoughts of our mind. What we really want to do is live that life every day and not just dream about it. I know all too often we are stuck because of jobs, finances, or other such circumstances, but I am also a firm believer that there is no reason we shouldn't be able to do exactly what we want to do in this life. The only limits we set are for ourselves.
I have so many goals I am working toward right now that will help me live the traveling, adventuring, family filled lifestyle I want. Sometimes I get down on myself and think, "I am just not one of the ones who gets to live that dream life." To that thought I now say GET THEE HENCE! (jk, kinda, but you get what I mean ;).
My mantra for this year is 'SUCCESS IS NOT FOR THE CHOSEN FEW'. When I think of success, I think of being successful in doing what I want and choose to do with the rest of my life. I can achieve my goals and live the life I want. I just have to make it happen.
I digress. This song makes me feel feelings about living outside of our bodies and our minds and embracing who we are in our soul. Making that the person we are every day. My soul wants to go outside. It wants to hike, to run, to show my son new places, to live life seeing the world. This song is my favorite representation of that.
ANYWAY... the Freedom Trail! There isn't much to say about it because it kind of speaks for itself. I had never walked it before even though it's something I always mention when people ask what there is to do in Boston. It shows off some of Boston's finest sights. Even if you just follow the trail to see the city and not necessarily to embrace the history, it's still a neat way to check all of the touristy stuff off the list! This city is honestly so incredibly beautiful. The buildings, architecture, culture, history... all of it is simply amazing!
