Mom & I Take Crane Beach
This summer I have made every effort to get outside and spend time somewhere beautiful as often as possible. The summers are short and the winters are long so we have to soak up the sunshine every chance we get! We typically go to Hampton Beach in New Hampshire when we have beach days because there are parking spaces and restrooms close by (some of the beaches force you to walk 1/2 - 1 mile to get to the beach, when you are carrying a small child plus all of your stuff - that is just NOT ideal). This particular day we wanted to try something fun and different. We had no regrets! We ended up at Crane Beach in Massachusetts and I was blown away!
The area nearby is kind of considered north Boston and I would consider a lot of it the "upper east side" of Massachusetts haha. If you are ever bored in Boston, take a drive up through Gloucester and be impressed. So beautiful. So classy. So much money invested in that area. It's incredible!
Crane Beach is just north of there. The sand is beautiful and the beach is so mild and perfect for a child as small as mine. It's almost like a bay, where the waves are calm and small. We loved it, and Maddux loved chasing seagulls and eating sand.
Some of my beach essentials include snacks for my buddy, a mat of some sort (I typically use my Gathre mat, but this day I used a towel), my camera and tripod (I take all of my photos myself with a tripod), sunglasses, chapstick and sunscreen. My pediatrician complimented me for how pale my son still is after a summer outside hahaha. She was proud at how well I kept him protected using sunscreen. We have been using this sunscreen from Babo Botanicals; it works wonderfully! And it's easy to find (Target - yay!). I also have been obsessed with their tinted chapstick. I always wear lipstick (my sister told my I look dead with no color on my lips and I've been scarred by that comment ever since, basically she told me I don't have that "natural beauty" thing going for me ;) but at the beach - normal lipstick just feels like too much. This tinted chapstick is a perfect solution!
I think this was our last beach day of the year. It's so sad to me that next summer when it's warm again, my son will be so grown and so different than who he is now. It's bittersweet. I feel like we have truly embraced the summer, and I'm sad to see it go. During times like these I always think of the quote "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." So long, summer 2016. You were the best one yet!
Ps. I have had the ichiest skin this summer (ichiest is not a word - I don't think). I'm not sure why, I haven't had itchy skin since I was pregnant! I tried the Babo Botanicals baby shampoo that I use on Maddux (it doubles as body wash) and I kid you not, I can completely feel the difference in my itchy skin after using it. It is a complete life savor and keeps my skin from itching all day long.
This isn't sponsored, I just really like/use these products.
