What I Wish I Knew About the Ice Castles
Hey friends! I’m getting stoked for the new year and the potential adventures we plan to have! As the 31st approaches, I thought I would do a daily recap of our favorite adventure from every month of the year! Today is first day so I’ll be re-capping what I wish I knew before going on our favorite adventure in January - the Ice Castles in Lincoln, NH!
The Ice Castles are such a fun and beautiful thing to explore but they are especially good for kids. Maddux had an absolute blast even though it was cold. He loved sledding through the caves, seeing Olaf and seeing the water in the fountains inside. The things I wish I knew before making the trek up to them are:
I wish I knew what a fun town Lincoln, NH was! It was so cute and I had no idea! If I had known beforehand, I definitely would have planned to stay overnight and explore it more! We just went up for the day and I completely regretted it.
I wish I knew that the ice castles were just a big ice patch right in the middle of town 😂 Don’t get me wrong, they were so neat and worth seeing, but for some reason I was picturing Princess Elsa-like castles of ice out in the mountains somewhere. Shockingly 😉 not so. They are just in an open spot right in the middle of town. Weird, but convenient.
Don’t go on the weekend. That’s not a secret, but something I wish I would have thought about. It was packed and there’s no chance for artsy pictures with thousands of people around you.
I hope those don’t sound negative. I want to make it clear - we loved our time there! I just wish I had been better prepared by knowing these things. It was by far our favorite adventure in January so rest assured, we would 10/10 would go again!
